Gaining a broader overview and deeper insights into equipment and tools was the objective of SPIE Building Solutions South-Wests collaboration with Centix. SPIE transitioned from an outdated registration system to Centix Online for the management of tools and equipment. “We use Centix to handle and maintain insights into inspections and calibrations of measuring instruments. That is our core business,” stated Omar Berkane, the warehouse / facility service at SPIE Building Solutions South-West.
Omar emphasizes the importance of working with Centix: “We have to comply with regulations. Mechanics are not allowed to walk around with unapproved tools. With Centix, we can keep an eye on that. In the old system, we did have an overview of data expiration, but with Centix Online, it works much more user-friendly. This allows us to monitor it better.”

SPIE Building Solutions South-West now has over 2,300 assets in Centix Online. Omar states, “We also register equipment that are not subject to inspection, such as a cart for the warehouse, soldering set, toolbox and hand tools. This way, we always know its location and who is using them. With several project sites, totalling about ten where a total of circa 154 colleagues work within our business unit, it’s crucial to be aware of the whereabouts of all the equipment in case we are searching for something, need to reclaim something or if an inspection is expired.”
The benefits of working with Centix are evident for Omar. He commends the effective communication with the Centix team: “I enjoy working with Centix. We can always reach out to them with questions or requests, and our requests are typically addressed quickly.” He illustrates this with an example: “When exporting data to Excel, it didn’t quite meet our expectations. We had an extra button added, so now it functions exactly as we want it to. At the moment, our Centix format is completely adapted to the way we use it in the field. If we require specific adjustments, we know we can turn to Centix. In the future, we will continue to expand our Centix environment.”

We successfully reached this target, resulting in a more dependable overview within Centix. Omar regards Centix as a valuable partner and emphasizes SPIE Building Solutions South-Wests future objectives: “We aim to establish notifications to alert us when specific equipment are nearing expiration, enabling us to initiate recalls. Additionally, we seek to ensure consistency in the designations within the system. Centix provides us with the necessary support for these processes. While we need to provide certain inputs for the desired outcomes, the system is highly user-friendly.
