Asset management for overhaul workshops
Centix is the specialist in asset management for the industrial sector. Our software is used in, among other places, overhaul workshops.
In detailed overhaul reports, technicians record step by step what has been done to the asset during the overhaul process. At the end of the process, an authorised employee reviews and approves the overhaul report to complete it. Afterwards, the overhaul report is immediately available to colleagues and customers. Customers can log in to your Centix environment to view the reports themselves, so there is no need to send them manually. As a result, mechanics can spend more time on preventive and corrective maintenance of assets and less on administrative tasks.
Centix at the overhaul workshop
You can record the entire overhaul process in Centix. All steps are automatically combined into one comprehensive overhaul report that can easily be shared with the customer through the customer portal. This creates a complete digital asset history.
In addition, customers automatically receive an email when a new overhaul report becomes available. They can then log in directly to view or download the report. As a result, there is no longer a need to send overhaul reports manually. Moreover, communication with customers becomes much more efficient.
Centix also supports the inventory management of spare parts. This ensures you always have insight into the available parts of the assets you manage for customers. At the same time, Centix replaces separate documents and paperwork, as all documentation is stored centrally.
Overhaul steps in Centix
What does this look like in practice? Within Centix, the overhaul process is divided into several clear steps:
1. Entrance control
The mechanic visually inspects the asset for damage and checks whether the correct documents are available, such as a cleaning certificate or MSDS sheets. Photos are used to document how any auxiliary equipment is attached.
2. PreTest
If possible, the tester records the condition of the asset before the overhaul. This data provides insight into how the equipment functioned prior to the overhaul and helps identify issues at an early stage.
3. Disassembly
The mechanic disassembles the asset to inspect its internal components. During this step, defective or worn parts are identified.
4. Cleaning
The mechanic cleans all disassembled components to remove dirt, corrosion and other contaminants. This allows each part to be thoroughly inspected and any damage to be detected.
5. Replaced parts
Worn or defective parts are replaced by the mechanic with new or refurbished components. In addition, parts that may be required for the next overhaul can be identified and ordered in time.
6. Assemble
After cleaning and replacing parts, the mechanic carefully reassembles the components according to the specified parameters. Adjustment values or clearances are recorded in Centix.
7. Conserve
The mechanic protects the asset against corrosion and environmental influences. In Centix, it is also possible to record which coating was applied and, if required, the coating thickness.
8. Final testing
The tester records the test results and indicates whether the test has been successfully completed. Centix can also link test requirements to the competencies of the employee performing the pre-test and final test.
9. Exit control
The mechanic performs a final visual inspection to verify that the asset has been properly prepared for transport. Photos help prevent disputes about potential damage during transportation.
10. Measuring equipment used
Measurement instruments used during the overhaul are recorded. This allows you to easily verify whether these instruments are properly calibrated. If a deviation is detected, you can immediately see which overhaul the instrument was used for, enabling targeted corrective actions.
If an intermediate damage assessment is performed, an inspection report can be created. Based on this report, the customer can provide financial or technical approval before the overhaul continues. Once approval is given, the overhaul process proceeds and Centix automatically compiles the overhaul report.
Within the module, permissions can be configured for different roles, such as planner, mechanic, tester or approver. For example, a tester may be allowed to add test results but not approve the full overhaul report. These permissions can be configured entirely according to your organisation’s needs.
Would you like to record costs in addition to overhaul data, such as labour hours and materials? This can also be easily managed within Centix.
