PAT testing: Inspection of power tools
Quickly and easily inspect your electrical equipment with Centix inspection software. Most electrical tools are tested both visually and through PAT testing. Centix follows the best-practice approach to ensure both visual and electrical inspections are carried out simply and in full compliance with legislation and regulations.
With QR code stickers, Centix OnSite, and your own PAT tester, you can quickly test all your tools — anytime, anywhere.
‘Simply and easily inspect power tools with Centix OnSite’
Best practice PAT testing in Centix
Quickly and easily carry out both visual and electrical inspections with Centix. Below, we explain in five steps how to perform a combined inspection — the visual and electrical inspection — of electrical tools.
1. Identify the tool
Each object in Centix has its own QR code sticker. By scanning the QR code, you can instantly identify the tool using a smartphone.
2. Information about the tool
After scanning the QR code, you immediately gain access to the tool’s record card, including its condition, certificates, and other information. From there, you can start the selected inspection. Centix OnSite works both online and offline.
3. Visual inspection
Utilise Centix’s standard maintenance and inspection plans to conduct almost all visual inspections. For each tool, you can easily tick off all the inspection questions. Found an issue? Add a note or photo, simply mark the deviation directly on the photo and then complete the inspection.
4. Electrical inspection
Finally, use your PAT tester. Many testers can be connected to a barcode or QR scanner, enabling direct use of the QR code stickers. This saves you a great deal of time and helps prevent errors when identifying the tool. TThen, simply carry out the PAT test.
Synchronise Centix OnSite and read out your PAT tester
Once you have completed all visual and electrical inspections (steps 1 to 4), you can synchronise Centix OnSite in one go. You can then read out the PAT tester in Centix Onine. The status of the inspected tools is updated automatically and the inspection certificates are available immediately.
What PAT testers do we support?
For each brand, a list of PAT testers can be found. This list includes details such as reading capabilities, connection options, or additional QR code scanners that can be linked. For each measurement instrument, a simple best practice document is available. Below, you can see all supported measurement instruments by brand.
“The inspection certificates are available online straight away. This process works very well, also for the customer. As soon as you select an item, you can access the certificate immediately.”
“The inspection process is much faster. The inspector now completes the work in half the time.”
“What I like about working with it is that you can read measurement values directly in Centix. You don’t have to write the values down on paper first and then enter them into the computer. This reduces the margin of error.”
The unique numbering of objects
Unique numbering of objects – isn’t every number unique? In Centix, it works a little differently. When you search for an object in Centix and enter part of its number, you want to find the correct object as quickly as possible. That sounds simple, but Centix searches for numbers differently than you might expect. For example, if you search for the number 123, Centix will also find 1123, 1231, and similar numbers. This is why Centix recommends using sufficiently long object numbers to ensure accurate searches.
Centix optimises inspection process for Dunea and CE-ESTER
Slobodan (CE-ESTER): “In many organisations, you see that information is fragmented. We work exclusively with Centix. With Centix, we have a platform that integrates all systems. Everything is always accessible to everyone.” Slobodan starts his day by opening Centix Work Order, which shows him what is expected of him. He then uses Centix OnSite to carry out inspections. Visual inspections are conducted using checklists. In addition to visual inspections, Slobodan also performs electrical inspections using the link to his measuring instrument.
