‘Simple, fast and error-free identification of your assets’
QR code applications in practice
Print QR code stickers in batches
Print an entire batch of stickers directly from Centix and provide them to your employees. When a new asset is created in Centix, a QR code is immediately available. This enables fast and error-free identification of your assets, with instant access to the correct information at all times.
Creating new assets
Scan a new QR code sticker to quickly and easily create a new asset in Centix. This is often used by inspectors and mechanics in the field, as well as by equipment and warehouse managers.
Identifying an existing asset
Scan the QR code to open the asset mastercard. This is commonly used by inspectors who identify the asset using Centix OnSite or a scanner connected to a PAT tester, allowing them to carry out inspections immediately. In the rental industry, this is used for issuing equipment. It also enables customers to easily access authorised information such as manuals, instruction videos or inspection certificates.
Moving assets
Scan the QR code and move the asset instantly using Centix OnSite. Quickly retrieve information on the asset’s current location, whether it is being moved to a warehouse, project site, vehicle or assigned to a person. This is widely used by equipment managers and warehouse staff.
Creating a service request
Need to report a fault or defect quickly and easily? Employees, customers or visitors can simply scan the QR code attached to, for example, an installation and create a service request immediately. By configuring which information is visible at system level, even people without access to or use of the app can submit a service request. This is commonly used by service organisations and maintenance departments.
“If something is defective, we can report it very easily using the service request form. We simply scan the QR code and immediately receive all the information. This way, I can view all the relevant details straight away.”
“Scanning the QR codes allows anyone to access all the details, including inspection certificates and ownership information for the equipment. It saves us a tremendous amount of time.”
“One advantage of the QR codes is that they can easily be scanned using a smartphone or tablet. This gives us immediate access to the data, without the need for any specialised scanning equipment.”
How does it work?
1. Scan the QR code
Each asset in Centix is assigned its own QR code. Using this QR code, anyone can identify the asset directly with a smartphone, even without the Centix apps. This allows users to view the correct asset information instantly. For many measuring instruments, it is also possible to connect a scanner, which saves significant time during electrical inspections.
2. Asset information instantly available
After scanning the QR code, you are given immediate access to the asset mastercard, its status and all other relevant information. Users can, for example, view manuals, certificates or instruction videos, or create a service request. What is visible per user type can be configured at system level, allowing you to control exactly which information is available.
3. Detailed information for authorised users
Authorised users with an account have access to Centix OnSite. They can view asset details such as status, inspection dates, certificates, location and other relevant information. From the asset record, users can easily carry out maintenance or inspections and relocate assets. No internet available? No problem! Centix OnSite also works offline, allowing your work to continue without interruption.Â
The unique numbering of objects
Renumbering your assets
In many cases, old numbers are still engraved on tools or equipment. We therefore recommend never engraving numbers, as this can damage the casing of your tools, and instead using QR code stickers. Are you a new customer or migrating from Centix Office? In that case, we carry out asset renumbering for you.
What we do in this case is place the ID in the barcode field. Centix has developed a dedicated script for this purpose. We align the ID and the barcode field so that they match the engraved number. We then developed a best practice implementation to support you in this. This way you can find your tools or equipment in both fields. Work with unique numbers and request them with ease by scanning the QR code with Centix OnSite. Do you have questions? Submit them to Centix’s specialist team by hitting contact!
